A lesson of how not to be.....
After waking up Saturday AM to 4-6" of snow on the ground, I was not sure that I wanted to venture out this morning to church because of the roads. So, I messed around and got a real breakfast fixed and showered. About 9:30 the doorbell rang. It was a race to see who could get there the fastest. When we opened the door there was an Asian couple standing there with a hand full of literature. They looked quite puzzled when they saw me and the kids. They asked if my last name was "Kim". They explained that they were Jehovah Witnesses. (How did they find me.... the phone book?)
After I told them that there was not a Korean person living here, they politely left and went on there way. They told me that they were sorry they bothered me.
As a general rule, I do not like it when Jehovah Witnesses come to my door except for when they take me up on my offer to match them minute by minute with my sharing of what I believe. :) (big surprise...I am sure) That usually makes them turn right around. I did not even do that or mention anything this morning. Today, however, I was a little bit sad that these people just left without mentioning anything about their beliefs, without handing out any "Watchtower" or whatever. They just left. Could it be that they decided my soul did not matter if I was not of their kind? I hope not.
So, this brings me to my point. Do I do that? Do I turn around and run when someone does not meet my criteria for what I am looking for in a witnessee? I would hope not, but then again do I judge people by their appearance or their tongue before I even open my mouth about our precious Lord? I would jump at saying "NO", but is that the truth? I think that my heart's intent is for Christ to spill out on everyone that I come into contact with day by day, but that is also a test. I will have to put this into action this week.
It may be the person at the grocery store that I may never think to even make eye contact with that truly needs to see the Light. Maybe just a pleasant smile. My goal is to go into the world this week and find someone each day that I might have ignored yesterday if it had not been for that doorbell ring.
I encourage you to do the same. I am not going to beat anyone with my Bible... so don't worry.
So.... did those two not witness to me because I am a whitey or because they did not want me in their eternity? Maybe there is some other reason. Big question. By the way they definitely spoke English.
Red and Yellow, Black and White we are precious in His sight! Jesus loves the little children of the world....

Walking in the light
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
1 John 2
1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also forc]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[c] the sins of the whole world.
3We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God's loved]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[d] is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
7Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
9Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 10Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in hime]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[e] to make him stumble. 11But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
12I write to you, dear children,
because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
13I write to you, fathers,
because you have known him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, dear children,
because you have known the Father.
14I write to you, fathers,
because you have known him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God lives in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
